Shaker Style Walnut and White Oak Dining Table

Our client came to us with an oak table top that was his grandfather's work table. He asked if the top size could be increased and a new base created to serve as his family’s main dining table. We are suckers for sentimental projects! And this was a great opportunity to give this piece a second life for new generations.

The tabletop was bordered with black walnut to increase the width and length of the top. To compliment the original oak top, we designed a traditional Shaker style trestle base. We challenged our woodworking skills for this project. All aspects of the base we shaped by hand and all joinery as well. The base is assembled with a simple tusk key tenon; which allows for easy assembly and breakdown. The result is a new working table for this family to eat together and create new memories and experiences.
